Damaged Earth Catalog

The Damaged Earth Catalog is a wiki; a living document, lightweight and evolving. The Catalog features a growing collection of terms associated with environmentally less damaging ICT and links each to an entry describing its related practice. This ‘carrier bag’ brings different communities of practice, from academic to grassroots, historical to contemporary, into relation and creates visibility of all these to each other with the aim of supporting strategic synergies and alliances that actually allow honouring differences while still collectively providing a larger scale resistance against the damaging practices (both socially as well as environmentally) of the tech industry. Instead of the consumer activist approach of shopping for the right tools to bring about change, as proposed by the Whole Earth Catalog, its evil twin, the Damaged Earth Catalog, shares a diverse range of situated practices that reimagine the roles technologies could play on a depleted planet.

You can visit the Damaged Earth Catalog here.

The wiki has been has been the public facing side of my PhD research, gathering a collection of keywords of which some became part of my dissertation. I will continue to develop it "post-doc", adding new entries in collaboration with others.
