The Hmm’s Data Centre Tour, which I co-curated with Lilian Stolk and Sjef van Beers, took place the 23rd of September 2023, and again the 9th of November 2024. There were 60 people on the bus.
"During this very special field trip we will take a tourbus from Amsterdam to the industrial park Agriport in the Wieringermeerpolder, which houses Google’s and Microsoft’s hyperscale data centres. During our hike around these huge constructions, we will take a look at how they came into existence, their infrastructure, and contemplate our relationship with data centres and what possible alternatives we could imagine taking place in these landscapes."
The 2023 tour featured local councillor Lars Ruiter, anthropologist Miriyam Aouragh from TITiPI (The Institute for Technology in the Public Interest), researcher and designer Cristina Cochior and artist and designer Nazanin Karimi from Varia, graphic designer and artist Lukas Engelhardt, myself and architect Paul Cournet.
The 2024 tour gave the stage to artist and educator Leo Scarin, artist-researchers anna andrejew and Ola Bonati, myself and councillor Lars Ruiter.
